I talk a lot about pain, chronic pain and injury, because this is my favourite area of work and I love helping people who are in pain, to feel better.

In fact I just read that it’s expected somewhere in the region of 30-50% of adults will have experienced chronic pain by 2040!!

So today I’d like to talk about: What happens when you have pain for the long term?

A lot of people will experience pain for a short period, that fully resolves and allows them to get back to a normal life; which just needs a little encouragement from a well trained therapist to help them recover quicker and fully, and feel a bit more human while they’re recovering.

But for others, pain can become chronic (lasting over 3 months despite tissues having healed), or even be part of a life long chronic health condition.

With long term pain, pain management is a strategy which can help people to take back control over their pain, and get back to doing the things they love even whilst living with, and managing pain.

I very often begin to work with people because they’ve reached the end of their tether, like they’ve hit a brick wall and can’t seem to find anyone who can actually help them.

Thats when they find me and we begin by looking at how long term persistent pain works, what makes it feel worse and what can help to make it feel better - not just hands on massage / soft tissue therapy treatment, but the day to do tweaks they can gradually make that add up to big changes.

If you’re experiencing chronic / persistent pain, or a chronic health condition, and you want to work with someone who will really listen to you, understands what you’re going through, can help you advocate for yourself, and can help you to understand, manage and improve your pain so that you can continue to do the things you love….

Then this is your sign to get in touch.

I am always happy to talk on the phone before you decide if an appointment with me is right for you, to put your mind at ease first. I know it can be scary to take that first step, especially when you’ve been in pain for so long - but I promise you, you’ll be glad you did!
