If you’re struggling with anxiety you are not alone, I suffered with it until my late twenties and I'm well aware of how many of the people I see through my work who are experiencing it. There are lots of techniques you can use to help calm your nervous system when you are feeling anxious - massage is also a great way to do this and help go from flight or fight into rest and repair mode.
BUT massage can also be a challenge because you can feel anxious about having a massage, meeting a new therapist or even just going somewhere new. So it can feel like you're going round in circles.
This is why I am always happy to talk to you on the phone beforehand so you can feel more confident about what to expect from an appointment with me, what will happen during a massage and how to find where I work. I also always do a full consultation at the start of the appointment to make sure I am working with you safely and within your comfort zone. I always ask your permission and will never touch any area of your body that you do not want me to - it is your massage and your body, and in order to try to begin to relax I know you need to be able to trust me, so I always work with integrity.
Anxiety can feel really hard to overcome, and can have a physical effect on the body because of the stress you may be feeling. It's common for people with anxiety to worry about coming for a massage but I want to assure you I will do everything I can to make the experience as comfortable as possible for you.
